Refresher training in gender and energy integration in District Development plans

As part of advocating for women empowerment and increased access to modern technologies and services in Tanzania. For the fisrt time, in October 2017, TANGSEN conducted training to district officials of Kibaha, Mkuranga and Kisarawe focusing on developing the capacity to integrate gender and energy in District Development Plans (DDPs).


As a continuation of the past training, TANGSEN conducted a refresher training program focusing on site seeing and experience sharing from already proven renewable resource, technologies relevant to address gender issues. The refresher training was held from 5th – 7th February 2020. The training was attended by 20 participants, 11 (55%) were female and 9 (45%) were male picked from Mkuranga, Kibaha and Kisarawe District, representative from Ministry of PO-RALG and Ministry of Energy and Renewable Experts.


Thus, the training was designed for learning and experience sharing on already existing and proven Renewable Energy Technologies to address gender issues so as it can be incorporated in district development plans and scaled to other areas. The training was conducted in three days, including two days site visiting to expose participants with different feasible renewable energy possibilities, which can be adopted and integrated into their development plans. The third day was for the recap, feedback, facilitation, the deliberation and way forward that occurred at Sea Shells hotel- Kijitonyama, Dar Es Salaam.
